A little backstory….
It all started with the news that half of the Jackfruit produced in this country were going to waste. This led Jackfruit lover, Anil Jose, a resident of Palarivattom to form a WhatsApp group named Chakkakkoottam for jackfruit lovers. The group initially had below 100 members. Then a feature about the group in the Manorama daily prompted more people, even those from abroad, expressed a wish to join and the membership exploded. Members include people who sell Jackfruit saplings, renowned Jackfruit snacks and other value added product manufacturers who share their experience and expertise. As the group grew and new admins came on board, the discussions turned to make jackfruit products available to more people. Discussions for starting the new venture started 2021 July and reached the concept of a Company in September. Thus the company Chakkakkoottam international Pvt Ltd was formed. The enterprise in five thousand square feet of leased building, based in an eastern belt of Ernakulam district, Kadayirippu in Kolencherry, manufactures six varieties of jackfruit products. A company from the WhatsApp group is now competing with international giants!
